Business Development
An important aspect of the Project is developing business among local and foreign companies, spurring both leasing transactions and financial sector investment. The Project will help both domestic and foreign equipment manufacturers and investors to identify business opportunities to lease equipment to Ukrainian companies or to invest in a Ukrainian leasing company. It is anticipated that agricultural equipment suppliers will have a particular interest in the development of leasing in Ukraine.
This component of the Project will be accomplished by Project staff meeting with equipment manufacturers, business associations and leasing companies to promote and inform business linkages into the region. The Project staff will also provide ad hoc one-on-one consultations to local financial intermediaries, local lessees, and foreign equipment vendors, responding to inquiries. At a later stage, the Project may begin to provide more systematic presentations or consultations to foreign companies seeking to enter the market or to domestic companies requiring assistance in structuring transactions.
Lack of long-term financial for leasing companies is, as previously mentioned, a major constraint to the development of leasing. As opportunities arise, the Project will work to facilitate linkages between the capital sources and suitable local recipients.
The Project will make leasing information and expertise available and useful to any foreign company interested in the Ukrainian market. This could include consultations, company participation in Project events, outreach activities, and provision of market information to industry associations and interested parties.
